There is a huge difference between how amateurs and professionals approach breakouts.  A beginner sees a breakout and goes rah-rah – a new trend is on.  A professional knows that most (although not all) breakouts are false and looks at them with an eye towards fading (trading against) them.  Alex shows how he analyzes breakouts and techniques he uses to trade them.

MIND is the most important part of Alex’s triad of “Mind, Method, Money.”  Most people ignore tuning their Mind and spend 90% of their time on Methods.  Once they have a few losses, they go looking for another Method – while the Mind stays unchanged, only more fearful.

When our Mind gets in the way, we end up making impulsive trades.  If we seriously analyze our past trades, we’ll find that we rarely follow our systems, regardless how well or poorly they perform.
